Halo Master Chief Collection Achievement Guideline: Part 2 Halo CE Anniversary Achievements

Hi folks. This article is the second in a series of articles that will go over a section of the achievements for the Halo Master Chief Collection. Since there are 450 of them, I thought it prudent to break them down into smaller chunks. Today we look at the Halo CE Anniversary Achievments.

This is just a guideline of course. You may find other ways to get these achievements. It’s just my way of helping you through this massive list.

Also, I want to make note of another person joining me in on this Guide. Former HFFL Gaming Group Member Tetrahedrite wrote up his own guideline and shared it with me. We talk and agreed to share in this guide. I’ll do my best to make mention of his specific contributions.

Halo CE Achievments – 92, gamerscore – 855G

5G A Day To Remember Halo CE: Play Halo: CE on the 15th of any month.
This one’s easy to get, you just have to wait until November 15th. And it’s no worries if you miss that day as we get a 15th every month…

The next 11 deal with mission specific times. As for what those times are, I’ll have to get back to you on that. I’ll update this section when I have that information. Since these do NOT mention a level difficulty, my hope is that you can do these on easy. If so, then speed run your way through the levels only taking out enemies you absolutely have to. Don’t worry about speed running from the first day out. Allow yourself to become acquainted with each mission first. That’s going to become easier as you go considering the achievements for beating each game on Legendary.

So that is my suggestion for these 11. Play each mission working your way up to Legendary. Get to know the spots with enemies and once you’ve relatively master getting through those quickly, go back and play them on easy and beat the time!
10G Hit The Beach* Halo CE: Beat the par time on The Silent Cartographer.
10G Would It’ve Killed You To Take The Elevator* Halo CE: Beat the par time on Assault on the Control Room.
10G Didn’t Like This Ship Anyways* Halo CE: Beat the par time on The Pillar of Autumn.
10G Flyover Country* Halo CE: Beat the par time on Halo.
10G You Can’t Handle the Truth* Halo CE: Beat the par time on The Truth and Reconciliation.
10G Lightning in a Bottle* Halo CE: Beat the par time on 343 Guilty Spark.
10G TLDR* Halo CE: Beat the par time on The Library.
10G Whistle Stop Tour* Halo CE: Beat the par time on Two Betrayals.
10G Scurty Bump* Halo CE: Beat the par time on Keyes.
10G All You Can Eat* Halo CE: Beat the par time on The Maw.
20G Did Somebody Say…* Halo CE: Beat par time on all Halo: CE levels.

Nearly the same can be said here for the next 11, as well. However, you won’t be able to speed run through these and expect to get a high enough score. No instead, this is where skull multipliers will help you. The harder the lever (Heroic/Legendary) the higher score you’ll get too, so keep that in mind.

As for which skulls you should turn on, well, that’s going to depend on your play style. I’m a mid-long distance shooter, so using the melee skull won’t help me one bit. I don’t like to get in close to the enemy and punch them to get my shields back, for instance.

These WILL require patience form you as you decide which skulls to use. Try not to get killed, but also remember that time does play a factor here too. So if you are near death and look to die no matter what, then just let it happen and start from your checkpoint. Sometimes that’s easier than trying to save yourself, only to waste time not killing enemies and eventually getting killed anyway and having to revert.
10G Charted* Halo CE: Beat the par score on The Silent Cartographer.
10G Vetro Strike* Halo CE: Beat the par score on Assault on the Control Room.
10G Pillar of Awesome* Halo CE: Beat the par score on The Pillar of Autumn.
10G Giant Hula Hoop* Halo CE: Beat the par score on Halo.
10G You Really Can’t Handle the Truth* Halo CE: Beat the par score on The Truth and Reconciliation.
10G Circuit Breaker* Halo CE: Beat the par score on 343 Guilty Spark.

10G Reading Room* Halo CE: Beat the par score on The Library.
10G It Was Inevitable* Halo CE: Beat the par score on Two Betrayals.
10G Headstrong* Halo CE: Beat the par score on Keyes.
10G Consumption Junction* Halo CE: Beat the par score on The Maw.
20G Overachiever* Halo CE: Beat the par score on all Halo: CE levels.

The HMCC will have specific playlists for each campaign. You’ll need to go to that menu and pick one that you will complete. It’s up to you which one of course, but for we achievement folks, I’d say pick the EASIEST one… Again, this is something you may want to wait on until you become further acquainted with the campaign.
10G A Fine Choice Halo CE: Complete a Halo: CE playlist.
20G Excellent Taste Halo CE: Complete three Halo: CE playlists.

Not going to lie here, I WON’T be getting this next one. I’m NOT a LASO person. If you are, MOAR power to you…
30G Like a Fine Wine Halo CE: Complete the Halo: CE LASO campaign playlist.

5G You Are The Weapon Halo CE: Kill a Hunter with one Pistol round.
Okay, so this sounds like a trick right? Well, not really. It says KILL a Hunter with one pistol round. It doesn’t say anything about the damage before hand. So basically make sure the final kill shot on a hunter is a pistol. Use anything else before hand to whittle it down. Now if for some reason this doesn’t work and you can’t shoot anything other than that one pistol shot, then you’re going to have to do this the hard way. By that I mean you’re the Matador and the Hunter is the Bull. You lure him into rushing you. Jump out of the way and back smack him. This will take a little time to do, so again, patience. Since there are usually two Hunters, you’ll need to kill one of them first to make the Matador/Bull technique work easier.

5G Back In The Day Halo CE: Play a CTF custom game on Blood Gulch with 4 players on the same console. Tri-tip optional.
Either get three friends to come over and play, or just hook up four controllers an make them guests. Easy enough, just don’t expect to win. Tri-Tip? Sorry folks, I don’t know what that is. Though, I’ll update this when I find out.

5G Madrigal Debut Halo CE: Trigger a hidden music cue in Halo :CE.
Per Tetra, he says this is during the Assault on the Control Room mission. So I’m going to take his word on this one.

5G My Buddy Chips Halo CE: Fight alongside Chips Dubbo and listen to his words of wisdom.
The one KEY thing to know who exactly Chips is, is by listening to his accent. He’s Australian. Find him and fight next to him and you’ve got an achievement!

5G No Smoking Halo CE: Disapprovingly look at Captain Keyes’ abandoned pipe.
Find this on the “Keys” mission, per Tetra.

10G T-Rex Halo CE: Find the hidden Rex sign on The Maw.
Well, looks like you’re on the hunt here. Find this in “The Maw” mission. Thankfully this shouldn’t be too hard…

5G Thirsty Grunt Halo CE: Listen to the Thirsty Grunt talk about his eating habits.
Also in “The Maw” mission, per Tetra.

10G Megg Halo CE: It’s a sign.
Find in the “Pillar of Autumn” mission. Per Tetra

5G Get Me Out of Here! Halo CE: Ride in a Pelican for several seconds on the level 343 Guilty Spark
Find in the “343 Guilty Spark” mission. Per Tetra. Watch for a Pelican and jump to it.

10G Feet Firmly Planted Halo CE: Complete a level without jumping.
Both Tetra and I feel that the Pillar of Autumn mission is your likely easiest way to get this one.

10G Pacifist Halo CE: Complete The Silent Cartographer without shooting, using grenades, using melee, dying, or restarting.
Basically YOU can’t do anything. However, having a co-op partner that DOES to everything will get this one for you. When that happens, be nice and return the favor to them.

10G Before and After Halo CE: Complete every level of the game having seen it in both classic and remastered mode.
Easy enough here. It just requires two complete playthroughs of the game. One in classic mode, the other in remastered.

The next 10 are simple enough. Just finishing the campaign on any level will met you these achievements. This is something you won’t even have to think about if you’re going for all of the achievements as it will come to you during normal gameplay.
10G Pillar of Autumn Halo CE: Complete The Pillar of Autumn.
10G Halo Halo CE: Complete Halo.
10G Truth and Reconciliation Halo CE: Complete Truth and Reconciliation.
10G The Silent Cartographer Halo CE: Complete The Silent Cartographer.
10G Assault on the Control Room Halo CE: Complete Assault on the Control Room.
10G 343 Guilty Spark Halo CE: Complete 343 Guilty Spark.
10G The Library Halo CE: Complete The Library.
10G Two Betrayals Halo CE: Complete Two Betrayals.
10G Keyes Halo CE: Complete Keyes.
10G The Maw Halo CE: Complete The Maw.

So here is where you need to look around. If you’ve play Halo CE Anniversary on the 360, then you should be familiar with where these are at. If not then read each listing for a brief summary of how/where to find them. Thanks to Tetra for writing up the locations in this section.
5G Arrival Halo CE: Activate Terminal 1 on The Pillar of Autumn.
After Keys gives you his Pistol, turn around. The right side there will be a computer station with a blink red message reading “Incoming Message.”
5G Sacrifice Halo CE: Activate Terminal 2 on Halo.
After acquiring the first warthog, you’ll travel through a forerunner tunnel. There is a small side crevasse underneath the ramp portion of the tunnel. It will be flashing yellow.
5G Splinters Halo CE: Activate Terminal 3 on The Truth and Reconciliation.
Before you reach Keys’s cell, you’ll enter a room with a raised platform (the same room you find Keys as a flood carrier in the mission Keys). There will be a monitor blinking red on the raised platform.
5G Idle Hands Halo CE: Activate Terminal 4 on The Silent Cartographer.
During your first encounter with Hunters, there is a structure they are guarding. After killing the Hunters, you’ll see the yellow flashing light appear on one end of the circular base.
5G Hitchhikers May Be Escaping Convicts Halo CE: Activate Terminal 5 on Assault on the Control Room.
Towards the end of the level, you’ll exit onto the snowy ground from a lift room. To the right is the pyramid-like structure where the control room is. To the left of the lift door is where the part of the structure penetrates the ground into a large hole. The terminal is in the hole, blinking yellow.
5G Bearly Contained Halo CE: Activate Terminal 6 on 343 Guilty Spark.
After you awaken the flood and are escaping, you’ll come to two large elevator room. Before you ride the second elevator that will take you to the surface, turn around and look above the doorway you entered the room from. The terminal will be blinking yellow atop it. Activate the elevator and jump off to land above the door.
5G Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? Halo CE: Activate Terminal 7 on The Library.
After you reach the 3rd floor, continue through the hallways until you reach the main room where the Index floats on the first floor. Instead of continuing the mission to the left, continue straight and you’ll see a secret area around the circular hole. You should see the yellow blinking terminal in the distance. Jump over some structures to the right until you reach the area.
5G Memories Halo CE: Activate Terminal 8 on Two Betrayals.
Right after the opening cut scene, kill the sentinels. Then walk around to the opposite end of the circular control room and the you’ll see yellow blinking terminal.
5G Mind Games Halo CE: Activate Terminal 9 on Keyes.
Before you discover the carrier flood Keys on the raised platform, look underneath it. There will be red flashing lights indicating the terminal.
5G Kilotons of Fun Halo CE: Activate Terminal 10 on The Maw.
When you enter the Cryogenic Storage Bay (the room requiring you climb latters to reach the center walkway to continue the  level). There will be sentinels next to computer stations. There will be a blink red message reading “Incoming Message” on one of the small tv monitors.
20G Dear Diary… Halo CE: Activate all Halo: CE Terminals.
Look above for each Terminal…

In similar fashion as for the terminals…just be sure to be in remastered mode. Thanks again to Tetra for writing up the locations for these.
5G Skulltaker Halo: CE: Iron Halo CE: Find and claim the Iron Skull in remastered mode.
Pillar of Autumn: After awaking from cryo, turn around to the back of the room. The skull will be behind the large barrels.
5G Skulltaker Halo: CE: Mythic Halo CE: Find and claim the Mythic Skull in remastered mode.
Halo: After exiting your crashed escape pod, run straight. The skull will be next to a large rock next to the waterfall.
5G Skulltaker Halo: CE: Boom Halo CE: Find and claim the Boom Skull in remastered mode.
Halo: After getting the warthog, ride or walk above the entrance to the forerunner runnel. The skull will be in the grass near the ledge.
5G Skulltaker Halo: CE: Foreign Halo CE: Find and claim the Foreign Skull in remastered mode.
Truth and Reconciliation: Clear all the enemies out of the space hanger and quickly get to the door on the far right where the Hunter appear from. You must dash through the door while the Hunters are near it so it remains open. The skull is inside to the right.
5G Skulltaker Halo: CE: Famine Halo CE: Find and claim the Famine Skull in remastered mode.
The Silent Cartographer: Behind the initial mission spawn, there is a small plateau at the water’s edge (It is also closely under a forerunner structure). There is a small path up the plateau near the water. Ascend and walk to the opposite end and the skull will be near the ledge.
5G Skulltaker Halo: CE: Bandana Halo CE: Find and claim the Bandanna Skull in remastered mode.
The Silent Cartographer: After descending to the map room, you’ll want to walk right to outside walkway. (There isn’t a railing so you can fall to your death). Turn right again and you’ll face the exterior of the hallway you entered from. You need to do a grenade jump to get on top of that hallway. Once on top, it will be next to the wall.
HFFL here…For this one, I’ve found an alternate way to get the Bandana Skull. If you can’t grenade jump then get a friend and go into Co-Op mode. Have them through the ‘made at your feet while you jump up to the ledge. OR, as one of my friends and I did, have your friend shoot a rocket at your feet. Be sure to jump accordingly though. As for your friend getting up there with you, they simply need to walk off the ledge once you’ve got the skull. They’ll spawn up there with you. Then just give them the skull.
5G Skulltaker Halo: CE: Fog Halo CE: Find and claim the Fog Skull in remastered mode.
Assault on the Control Room: In the beginning of the level, before you exit outside, look inside for the room where a tube of gas is in the middle. The skull is in the small enclosure above it. You’ll need to grenade jump onto the back pillar and then jump inside.
5G Skulltaker Halo CE: Malfunction Halo CE: Find and claim the Malfunction Skull in remastered mode.
Assault of the Control Room: When you have the tank, you’ll come across a large underground room with a bridge connecting the two sides together. Before crossing the bridge on the left, go the left where a destroyed bridge is. Looking down into the chasm, just to the right of the broken bridge, is a protruding pipeline where the skull is located on. You’ll need to drop down to retrieve it.
5G Skulltaker Halo: CE: Recession Halo CE: Find and claim the Recession Skull in remastered mode.
343 Guilty Spark: At the start of the mission, turn around the left side of the pelican. You’ll continue walking straight until you come to a make-shift wall and you’ll veer to the right. Continue walking straight. Do not follow the make-shift wall to the left. Eventually you’ll come to a canopy where the skull will be behind the base of a large tree.
5G Skulltaker Halo: CE: Black Eye Halo CE: Find and claim the Black Eye Skull in remastered mode.
The Library: After the first encounter with the flood, 343 will have you follow him to the room where the Icon floats. If you are facing the passageway to that room, turnaround and grenade jump on the tall, rectangular objects (doesn’t matter which one). Once on top, you’ll see two openings you can jump into (when facing opposite the icon room). The skull is located in the right opening. You’ll need to jump up again once inside the opening. Turn on your flashlight.
5G Skulltaker Halo: CE: Eye Patch Halo CE: Find and claim the Eye Patch Skull in remastered mode.
The Library: At the end of the level you’ll make a break for the platform that lowers you to where the Icon floats. Before you run onto the platform, in between two large rectangular objects, the skull will rest.
5G Skulltaker Halo: CE: Piñata Halo CE: Find and claim the Piñata Skull in remastered mode.
Two Betrayals: When you retrieve the banshee to take you to the third and final pulse generator, continue to backtrack until you reach the mouth of the forerunner underground tunnel. Land the banshee on top of the tunnel opening. The skull is located near the ledge.
5G Skulltaker Halo: CE: Grunt Birthday Party Halo CE: Find and claim the Grunt Birthday Party Skull in remastered mode.
The Maw: During the warthog escape portion, you’ll stop on a small bridge to get picked up by forehammer. At the end of the bridge, (where you eventually continue down) There are beams on the left and right side. The skull is located on the right one next to the wall. To get on top of it, par the warthog when the beam eventually meets the bridge, jump on the warthog to reach the beam.
20G Headhunter Halo CE: Find and claim all Skulls in Halo: CE.
Refer to the individual skull achievements for the individual locations. *Note: There is NOT a skull on the Mission “Keys”.*

These next four are progressively harder. However, by the time you’ve worked your way up to Legendary, you’re going to have a lot of the other achievements, so look at it that way. Oh and take you time and have patience with Legendary if you’re not looking to die. Co-op is your friend here! If you start out on a higher difficulty (I start with Heroic), you will NOT need to go back and do the campaign on a lower level. So for instance, if you beat the campaign on Heroic, you’ll get the Easy/Normal/Heroic Achievements for this.
10G Greenhorn Halo CE: Complete every level of the game on Easy difficulty.
10G Birth of a Spartan Halo CE: Complete every level of the game on Normal difficulty.
20G Believe in a Hero Halo CE: Complete every level of the game on Heroic difficulty.
30G Living Legend Halo CE: Complete every level of the game on Legendary difficulty.

10G He’s Unstoppable Halo CE: Complete any level on Heroic difficulty or higher without taking health damage.
Is this possible? Yep. Is it easy? Again, Co-Op is your friend here. You just need to stay away form the action while your friend does the work. Again, reciprocate when finished.

10G Overshields are for Sissies Halo CE: Complete The Pillar of Autumn on Legendary without picking up an over shield.
This doesn’t make mention that you are allowed to die during the mission. So, just do not pick up an over shield. This isn’t all that hard, just takes some patience. There’s that word again….patience.

10G Walk It Off Halo CE: Complete The Pillar of Autumn on Legendary without picking up a health kit.
As with many of these, this is better achieved through Co-Op. You can die, just don’t heal yourself. If you’re close to death, just let yourself die and respawn with full health. Again, playing in Co-Op mode.

10G No-Fly Zone Halo CE: Destroy three of the four Banshees on Halo during a single play-through.
Here’s Tetra’s take on this one: The first two banshees are found at the beginning part of the mission. Make sure you attack both with your assault rifle. When they are smoking, use your pistol to bring them down. Once one goes down, the other will start to fly away so kill it quickly. The other two are located in the back of the canyon (the canyon is the area between the three areas with the Marines you need to evacuate). Again, there are two so damage them until they smoke with the assault rifle, then clean up with the pistol. When one leave, the other will fly away too.

10G How Pedestrian Halo CE: Complete Halo without entering a vehicle.
This can be done, it’s just going to take you longer to complete the mission. Tetra estimates 20-30 minutes longer.

10G Close Quarters Combat Halo CE: Complete The Truth and Reconciliation with at least four rounds left in your Sniper Rifle.
You can use your sniper, just be sure you have no less than 4 rounds left in it at the end of the mission. When you get low, switch to your other weapon and also, NEVER drop your sniper for another weapon. Keep it with you at all times, even if your ammo is low.

10G That Just Happened Halo CE: Complete The Library on Heroic or Legendary difficulty without dying.
Tetra’s take: Take your time and kill everything. Suggested to attempt this with a partner so you can have them be a little more ambitious. If your playing back, be sure to check behind you as some floor forms spawn behind players. One tactic is to not even advance and be teleported as the other player rides the elevator. On the third floor however, the main player will need to catch up at one point in order to activate a door. Additionally, the bandana skull will help drastically if you want to do it.

10G Look Out for the Little Guys Halo CE: Complete Two Betrayals on Legendary difficulty without killing any Grunts.
Just don’t kill any grunts… Ignore them as much as possible as use cover to sneak away from them (and save your shields).

10G Leave It Where It Lay Halo CE: Complete Two Betrayals on Legendary difficulty without picking up a new weapon.
This one is fairly easy. Make sure you have the Bandana skull active. Having unlimited ‘hades makes this easy to complete. Don’t worry about dying either. Those aren’t considered picking up weapons. They are spawned with you. Co-Op again helps here where your partner does the killing and you do the ‘nading.

10G All According to Plan… Halo CE: Kill the first group of enemies on The Truth and Reconciliation without being detected.
Okay, I’m going to be honest here. I NEVER got this achievement. I ALWAYS am detected… So let me refer to Tetra for this one: At the beginning of the level, go to the right to get an elevated view of the area, couch and turn on night vision from your sniper rifle. Look at the area and learn the elite and jackle walking path so you can start figuring out how to take them out. grunts are sleeping so just go up to them and beat them down. All kills must be with melee as enemies can detect you when you fire.

10G Beachhead Halo CE: Storm The Silent Cartographer beach with no Marine casualties on Heroic or Legendary.
Tetra’s take: Be the Spartan you were bred to be. Run and Gun. Try to take as much damage you can. Head shot a lot of grunts quickly as that will decrease the amount of projectiles being fired. If a marine dies, restart from checkpoint/mission. A co-op partner can make the rush more manageable.

10G Wraith Hunter Halo CE: Destroy four Wraith tanks in Assault on the Control Room with the Scorpion tank.
Tetra’s take: The big things here is to 1) not kill the first wraith before you acquire the scorpion; and 2) keep the scorpion alive. When you get the scorpion, backtrack briefly and kill the first wraith. It should follow you as you pass it on foot. The other three wraiths will come with the progression of the level.

10G Tying Up Loose Ends Halo CE: Kill every Elite on the level Keyes on Heroic or Legendary difficulty.
I got this one, but it was a pain in the arse for me. Here’s Tetra’s explanation for this: Survey every room and area you enter. The two choke points are right before you fall into out of the Truth and Reconciliation and at the end of the level. Before falling in the ship’s hole, pick off all of the small handful of elite fighting the flood. Then at the end, make sure you clear out the whole space hanger. Doing this on Heroic and with the bandana skull will help.

10G This Side Up Halo CE: Complete the Warthog ride of The Maw without being forcibly ejected from your vehicle.
This one likely will take you a few runs to get. First, do NOT run over carrier forms. Those things will explode and VERY likely make your warthog flip, thereby knocking you out of it. Second, as Tetras mentions, know the level. There are many places where you can easily flip by hitting things the wrong way. You can slow down slightly, but remember, this level is timed, so it’s a speed run all the way through… Good Luck!

BTW, for the skulls and terminals, IIRC, you can get those on any difficulty. So why not make it easy on yourself and find them during easy/normal runs of missions?

Other parts to this series:

One thought on “Halo Master Chief Collection Achievement Guideline: Part 2 Halo CE Anniversary Achievements

  1. I got most of the achievements for Halo: CEA (40 out of 44) and I highly recommend the Bandanna skull. Best. Skull. Ever. Anyways, I’m surprised you didn’t get the “All According to Plan” achievement. I thought it was pretty easy but if you still want to get it, I can co-op with you (not sure if co-op would negate the achievement though). The key thing is to hang back and snipe and don’t let the Covenant see you. I haven’t played Halo: CEA in awhile but for the “Wraith Killer” achievement, I believe you can kill the first Wraith you see (you will be a Warthog with some Marines) as there are enough later in the level. You also don’t need to worry about your Scorpion as it can’t be destroyed but you can die in it from damage.
