MCC Feburary (2019) Update

This is a repost from HaloWaypoint:

By Postums

After a mild start to winter here in Western Washington, “Snowpocalypse 2019” decided to show up and really bring that MCC winter-themed background to life! Scoops tweeted out one of our Warthogs stuck in the snow in front of the studio last week, asking people to take a stab at recreating the in-game menu on their own. Wanting to show off his artistic side, community member Vosico took to the challenge and made the following!

The February update for MCC is bringing some fun additions that many of you have been asking us about for quite some time. This update touches on nearly all areas of the Halo community from casual, to just for fun, all the way up to die-hard competitive. Continue reading

Halo 3 Settings Update

This is a repost from HaloWaypoint:

Since Halo 3 has come back into the competitive scene in a big way, we’ve been keeping an eye on the competitive settings from both a player and viewer’s perspective.

For the HCS Invitational at SXSW, we’re planning to make some minor changes but we’re looking for your help in collecting data and providing feedback. With Oddball on Guardian and King of the Hill on Construct, we’ve been noticing many “dead man walkingscenarios where, at the end of the game, one team is so far ahead that it’s mathematically impossible for the other team to come back. This is especially true for Oddball on Guardian. For viewers, this often leaves the match in a weird state where some players are still playing, some have put their controllers down to celebrate, and perhaps some have even taken to Twitter to announce their victory. In matchmaking, we believe these scenarios, where the outcome is decided before the game actually ends, is also causing players in matchmaking to quit rather than finish out the remainder of the match. Master Chief Collection Hotfix in place.

This is a reblog from HaloWaypoint.
As we mentioned last week, the team has been working on a hotfix for party joinability, and this fix is now available via a content update to Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Largely, this update will revert to the same party functionality that was available prior to our 4.21 update, and specifically addresses joinability issues that players with large friends lists have been experiencing.

As of this time, this weekend’s ESL online cup #1 remains on schedule, and the HCS staff at 343 and ESL are currently working with teams and players to verify that the joinability issues have been resolved to ensure that things will run smoothly during the tournament.

If you haven’t yet signed up for cup, head here to register, and to see the full season schedule, head here.

Thanks for your patience and best of luck to all competitors.

Microsoft Announces Halo: The Master Chief Collection Xbox One Bundle

This is a reblog from game informer.com:

HaloBundle610

We’re surprised it’s taken this long. Finally, Microsoft has announced the Halo: The Master Chief Collection Xbox One Bundle.

This bundle comes with the 500GB Xbox One, wireless controller, headset, and the entire collection of Master Chief-focused Halo games. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo 4 are all included in the package. All the games run at 1080p, 60 fps. To top off the Halo bounty, the collection also comes with Halo: Nightfall, the live-action series produced by Ridley Scott.

Look for the bundle, which costs $349, on shelves this month.

Thanks to Halo Podcast Evolved for the intel on this.

HFFL: Well, if you held out this long then you’re in luck. Not only has the game been heavily fixed, it will now come in a bundle. I was really hoping for this when the game launched. With my XBOX One fried (from a power outage) it would be great to get this. Just wish I could afford it. Stupid water main plumbing $10k issue is keeping me from taking advantage of this. sigh…

1.23.15 MCC Content Update Beta Test FAQ

This is a reblog from Halo Waypoint:

In recent weeks, we have been conducting extensive internal testing of an upcoming content update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Given the scale of the update, which includes changes to the matchmaking experience and party system, we are expanding testing to include select members of the Xbox One Preview program to ensure the official release is the best possible experience for all players.

The content update beta test is open to Xbox One owners within North America who have a copy of Halo: The Master Chief Collection and have opted-in for Xbox One beta testing as part of the Xbox One Preview program. This is an opt-in opportunity and the content update will only be made available to selected participants within the Xbox One Preview program, based on the highest levels of engagement with Halo: The Master Chief Collection. On Friday, January 23, participants selected will be prompted to download the content update automatically when the title is started.
