Just a few days ago, http://visualizer.halowaypoint.com showed Chief’s helmet (as bits and pieces of messages. Now the image has changed to that of Locke’s helmet.
Okay, I’ve got to say this now to get it out of my head. I’m really starting to hate this character. Yes, I know, he’s following orders. But it’s not just the character. It’s that 343 is basically shoving the character down our throats.
Sorry, but NO Spartan is equal to Chief. Even the rest of Blue team didn’t accomplish as much as Chief has. And we’re supposed to take to this joker who JUST BECAME a Spartan???
It’s going to take a LOT for me to like him. The whole hunting down Chief thing is already a huge knock to him. The way his character was introduced in Nightfall…ugh, just didn’t do it for me. Colter’s acting of the character was robotic, IMO.
So now, Chief’s helmet is removed and replaced with Locke’s. Ugh…let it be the 27th already so we can get away from all of this Locke advertising. PLEASE…

I have no beef with Locke. Yes, they have been advertising him a lot, but it hasn’t been enough to frustrate me.
The whole of Nightfall was sub-par, and Locke was just kind of bland in it. So I’ll wait until Halo 5 to judge him. But for now, he’s fine by me.
And I personally don’t think that Chief is the best spartan, unless 343i themselves tell me otherwise. He has accomplished the most out of any Spartan, sure. But put him in an even 1v1 battle with every other spartan, and I doubt that he would come on top every time. I think that Fred could beat him.
And plus, his helmet looks cool. 😛
Sacrilege you speak!! Chief’s accomplishments alone make him the best! Yes, there are spartans that have certain qualities that are better than Chief’s. Linda is a better sniper, Kelly is faster. But overall? No, Chief IS the best!
Put Fred in Chief’s place throughout the Halo series, and I think that he’d be able to accomplish the same. Maybe he’d be inquisitive enough to actually ask Guilty Spark about what kind of weapon Halo is, and NOT almost destroy all sentient life in the galaxy. 😛
Fred is like Chief; good at everything. He came in second place in all of the Spartan’s contests, and only because he didn’t want the attention that first place would give him. I think that he’s -at least- as good as the Chief.
And Kelly’s superior speed and reflexes also makes her a viable option to defeat the Chief, me thinks.
While I don’t really like Locke, I wouldn’t go so far as to say I hate him.
As for Spartans being equal to the Master Chief, wasn’t Noble 6 considered equivalent? If he was given the opportunity to go through the same things the Chief did (Halo CE-4), I think he might be as successful as the Chief.
Anyways, as for Locke, I don’t think he’s equal as well but we haven’t seen too much of him in action as a Spartan (and what we have seen of him shows that he’s pretty competent). Keep in mind he also has the new fancy tech and whatnot.
In the end, I don’t think 343i is trying to make Locke likable but if they are, they’re doing a bad job. I hardly think anyone is on Team Locke.
