Well there it is in text, printed in the XBOX mag…”Become one with a Promethean and turn into Mega Chief. Now what exactly does this mean? Chief can’t be “composed” then inserted into a Promethean shell as he became immune to the Composer via the Librarian in Halo 4.
What’s this in the little green box…Spartan Ops will no doubt return?
Here’s that full page so you can see it all at once.
On the left of this two-page spread is info on Spartan Assault. The writer talks about “how much like a true Halo experience Spartan Assault actually is.” They also lament the decision for it to only be available on Win8 Devices (I agree).
To the right is an article with 343’s executive producer, Dan Ayoub, specifically regarding Spartan Assault. There Dan talks of quickly learning that the game was going to live or die by the controls. They went through many control scheme until they got the “adaptive glide” scheme for which the game uses.
Now the second question in this article asks what he thinks the fanbase will think about it only being available on Win8 devices. Dan quickly sidesteps that question by saying “The real goal of it was really just to create…” They wanted people to be able to play a Halo game not having to sit in front of a tv. With all due respect Dan, many of we devoted fans feel this was a HUGE mistake. Brining it to XBLA in the near future will fix that mistake. We’re not going to be convinced to buy a several hundred dollar surface or win8 phone for a $7 app. The upgrade to Win8 for PC is about $50 from what I understand. So again, is that worth it for a $7 app? Bring it to XBLA for $15 and you’ll see sales of the app VAULT!
The third question covers what we already know of the story line meshing with what’s already out there. It still bugs me that there are going to be things in Spartan Assault that unlock stuff in Halo 4… I have NO family or friends that use Window 8, so this is going to prove very difficult for me to accomplish.
With regards to the fourth question being about the game being solo only and will there be multiplayer, once again Dan deflects the question deftly by saying, “We’ve got some really cool things planned down the lines for it. So people should definitely stick around for that.” With respect again Dan, how about just answering the question directly. Honestly, with a mobile game I wouldn’t expect it to be multiplayer. At least not in the traditional sense that we’ve come to know from Halo.
