Halo 5: Launch Gameplay Trailer

Halsey has some distressing words to start this video out, huh?

Locke giving an ultimatum to Chief? Um, not going to end well for someone…

As for the song chosen, while I like Muse, it’s the words in the song that have me questioning things. “Noone’s going to take me alive” Hmm, if Chief is killed…

Look, I get it, 343 wants a new main character. That doesn’t mean they need to kill off Chief. Have a second character and a spin-off game. That’s fine.

343 explains how it created Halo 5’s new Warzone mode

This is a reblog from gamesradar.com:

If you’ve been keeping up with all the latest updates from developer 343 Industries, you’ll know the tantalisingly close Halo 5: Guardians will feature a new four-player co-op campaign (featuring a Spartan called Fred no less) and an new upgraded version of the Forge theater (set to release two months after the base game). But what about the game’s most lasting feature – that moreish multiplayer? 343 is hoping to add a new favourite to your online shenanigans with Warzone. The new mode may be the franchise’s most ambitious one yet, featuring 12-player teams squaring off against one another with a few AI and some colossal maps thrown in for good measure.

“Warzone was a lot more challenging than we thought,” recalls 343 Industries co-founder Bonnie Ross in the latest issue of Official Xbox Magazine. “And there were points where it did not feel like it was coming together. It was a huge bet for us. I think it was pretty nerve-wracking at some points, but there was a moment several months ago where people started getting good scores back from user research.”

Right from the off, 343 knew it had its work cut out if it wanted Warzone to stand out among Halo 5’s many multiplayer modes. “Someone said ‘Look, it’s going to be really crappy until we get this system working, and then we need this netcode to be supporting that, blah blah blah…'” says franchise development director Frank O’Connor. “Somebody in the production office had kinda drawn a line, saying: ‘This is roughly where it will start to be fun.’ If you do really good planning and production – and I think we pride ourselves on that – there shouldn’t be too many crazy surprises. But it does get nerve-wracking when you’re waiting for that breakthrough to happen, whether it be something as big as a mode or just specific weapon.”

If you aren’t yet familiar with Elysium City Primary Education Facility No. 119, or the origins of subject Number-117, you’re in luck, and you’ve come to the right place. As we announced at E3, Halo: The Fall of Reach – The Animated Series (which tells the origin story of the Master Chief and the SPARTAN-II program) is on the way and will be included with the Digital Deluxe, Limited Edition, and Limited Collector’s Edition of Halo 5: Guardians. The animated epic releases on launch day, and since we’re getting awfully close to that date, I grabbed some time from Executive Producer Kiki Wolfkill to get the latest. Continue reading
