Today starts the first of 12 consecutive days of Halo Toy Reviews. Over the course of those days, I’ll be reviewing Halo Mega Bloks, Mattel Halo figures, Prop weapons and more. 

Also, I want to make note that Mega Bloks has changed it’s name to Mega Construx. For the sets I’m reviewing that still have the Mega Bloks logo, that will be present in them. The sets that are now Mega Construx will have that logo. With a possible one or two exceptions, starting in 2017, all Mega reviews will be Mega Construx instead of Mega Bloks.

A little piece of trivia, the Halo Mega Bloks line started as a Halo Wars toy line first, then moved on to the FPS games for more/ner sets.

As with all the previous Signature series Halo Mega Bloks sets, this box is HUGE! You can tell just by the handle alone at the top.

The box art is very nice. The glowing blue bits are for effect only though folks, this set is not electrical in any way. Note the whopping 2291 piece count!

The Bay Roofs and Doors

The troop bay roofs where VERY easy to build. Since there weren’t thick and had many duplicate peices, this section of the build came about fast.

I’ve completed editing the pics to go into the review for the Halo Mega Bloks Covenant Spirit Dropship. I had started out with 155 pics. Took that down to 112 to edit. A few of those I decided not to use. In the end, I had 98 pics to edit.

The review itself will be broken down into three parts. I will post part 1 tomorrow, part 2 on Monday and part three on Tuesday.

On a related note, I’ll be starting the build for the Kodiak Siege and will have the review for that set sometime this coming week as well.

As you might have seen by the teaser I dropped yesterday, I was building the Halo Mega Bloks Signature Set: Covenant Spirit Dropship.

I’ve completed the build. Now to edit the photos. Of which, there are 110 pics to edit. Yes, ONE HUNDRED and TEN pics… So it’s going to be a couple of days before I get the review up. This is going to be in a few parts, just as I’ve done with each Signature Series Halo Mega Bloks before.

Mega Bloks UNSC Kestrel Strike

Technical Specifications:
Build Time: 10 minutes sorting, about 30 minutes building (your time may vary)
Set Piece Count: 289
Minifigures: Spartan War Master (Orange with white highlights); ODST Black/Grey; Alpha Crawler, 2X Crawler (regular), Watcher, Promethean Knight (original Halo 4 basic version)
Accessories: Buildable Forerunner Weapons stand; UNSC Weapons locker and weapons pod, both with baseplates. Light Shield with display stand/baseplate, buildable stand for Kestrel (to make it look like it’s hovering)
Special Features: Kestrel wings and tail pivot
Cost: $30 US; Mass Retail set

This was an unexpected set. I for one am VERY happy it was made, for a few reasons. For one, I wanted the Spartan from the game (Spartan Strike). I liked the Kestrel, so having it in the in-game green colors (as opposed to the previous ONI REAP-X silver color) was welcome. Lastly, getting more Prometheans is always a plus, much more so when it’s the original Knight! That one was ONLY available in the Cauldron Clash set. So again, I’m very happy to have the one back at retail.

Accessories: Magnum. Hydra, 2X figure stands in tan camouflage
Special Features: Wheels spin, both turrets rotate 360 when on base, slight suspension for wheels. Removable parts to change from Gauss Hog to Rocket Hog modes
