Okay folks, have a seat and get ready for some wild speculation. This is going to take some slight imagination, along with a theory based in Greek mythology.

First, as we know, some of the Halo franchise has Greek mythology imprinted into it. The most obvious being that of the Promethean of Halo 4.

So how does that fit in with what I’m about to speculate on. Okay, well here goes…

The huntthetruth website was just announced a couple of days ago and will reveal something in less than a day as of this writing. If you go to the site, you will find the following graphic:

This to me looks very much like a star chart. So I began to wonder, is there some meaning behind this and does this graphic somehow fit into any known star formation?

Well, the first thing I did with the graphic above was to brighten it up:

Above you can more clearly see the circles (which I believe are stars) and the lines which are likely slipspace pathways.

Now, the lines are a bit intricate, so I next deleted those and isolated only the ‘stars’:

I made them red so that when I brought them into a star chart graphic they would show up very well against the usual black star charts I was finding. (and they differentiated themselves form the white stars in the star chart graphics.

I searched on the web for about 2 hours finding various star charts. Given the ‘Greek’ undertone of parts of Halo, I figured I’d start looking at constellations first. It took me about another 40 minutes to find what I thought might fit. The first thing that came to mind was Orion. That, of course, would fit in well with Halo, considering the Orion project (unofficially the Spartan I’s of which Sgt. Johnson was one of). However, the above red star formation didn’t really fit.

So, I searched some more. I found another I thought was close, but still again didn’t quite fit. Then…

I hit upon a formation that is actually parts of two constellations, Pegasus and Aquarius:

(click on it and zoom in, or download and blow it up) Okay, so as you can see, I overplayed the red star formation to the graphic above, rotated it and scaled it down. Now while it doesn’t exactly fit, it’s definitely similar, regarding the largest of the circles from the graphic on the huntthetruth website. Figuring that the Halo universe as we know it (as of Halo 4/5) takes place 500+ years in the future, it’s possible the stars could appear a little different in the night sky as seen by Earth. So I went with that possibility. (Even if unlikely)

So, what does this mean? Well, there is a lot of information regarding Aquarius and Pegasus. This is where things will get slightly religious with regards to Greek mythology.

1) AQUARIUS is the Water-Man (Water Bearer), he is pouring out Living Waters.This is the sign declaring the Outpouring of Spirit upon all flesh and the revelation of the sons of God. (Think Forerunner here) In Greek mythology, when Perseus cut off MedUSA’s head, as the blood skirted from her neck, out of the blood something miraculous happened.

Pegasus, the pure white winged horse was born fully mature. Pegasus the winged horse shows us our ability to live in 2 realms. We are physically attached to the earth realm, but also have the ability to soar in the heavenly realms as the flying horse with great speed and power. (Cortana?? With Mike Colter having revealed that she will have some kind of role in Halo 5, well…)

Pegasus also shows us that it does not matter what type of background you came from. It does not matter how bad, evil or destructive it was – it does not have to dictate your future. Pegasus was conceived and birth out of violence. Okay, that part is not so much Cortana, though her life of course was filled with much violence. Master Chief could also be considered Pegasus here. Certainly his “birth’ as a Spartan WAS born of violence. Or, rather a need to stop violence, crushing human rebellion in the out worlds in the form of Insurgents, until the Covenant came along.

Now, along with Aquarious and Pegasus, there is a third constellation to note. Cygnus (the swan). The mythology behind Cygnus is, his friend had died while swimming in the river of Eridanus (sub-constellation of Taurus). Cygnus searched and searched for him by sticking his head beneath the water and trying to retrieve his body. Zeus had mercy and turned his body into a swan. Now here, if you take it that Pegasus is Cortana and Cygnus is Master Chief, then we can see the correllation. She died, he goes searching for her. OR…with the video on the HuntTheTurth site showing a sniper shot destroying Master Chief’s helmet, could it mean that Locke (Cygnus) is trying to find Master Chief (Pegasus)? Now, if Master Chief is Cygnus, and Cygnus is a swan, you need to think about a ‘swan song’. Apparently the sound of a swan song is beautiful. However it also signifies the impending death of said swan.

Again folks, you have to suspend some beliefs here and just go with it for fun…

Okay, now there IS one other thing here. Is it significant? Well, it MIGHT be.

The water that flows from Aquarius’s water pot is from the river Eridanus. Yes, THAT Eridanus where the planet Reach is located…

2) In mythology, Aquarius was associate with the cup bearer of the gods – known to serve wine or water to Zeus. For his role, he was immortalized in the stars. Aquarius was also identified as the pourer of the waters which flooded the earth in the Great Flood, in the ancient Greek version of the myth. As such, the constellation Eridanus was sometimes identified as being a river poured out by Aquarius. It may also, together with the constellation Pegasus, be part of the origin of the myth of the Mares of Diomedes, which forms one of The Twelve Labours of Heracles. 

Looking up the ‘Mares of Diomedes’, I came across this: 3) The Mares of Diomedes, were four man-eating horses.

Flesh eating? Sounds link zombies huh? Well…what in the Halo Universe are like Zombies? Yep, the FLOOD!

Right, so how might all of this tie in altogether? This could mean that as we know, Locke is hunting Chief. Perhaps this IS Chief’s last mission and he is killed somehow. In searching for Chief, Locke may also perhaps come across the origins of the Flood. Thus hunting the truth of where they came from.

Whew, yes, that’s a LOT of wild speculation to come down to that last few sentences. But if I didn’t preface those sentences by what all came before, you’d think I REALLY was off my rocker, instead of just slightly, LOL.

Okay, so what do you think folks? And yes, I had a lot of time on my hands today…

Gods and Demons has been in Halo before… Hmm. Hopefully the meaning of this will be revealed tomorrow.
