Halo 5 Guardians will run on dedicated servers.

According to a reply by Josh Holmes, inside studio head for Halo 5 Guardians, on NeoGaf, who goes by the name Salient One all aspects of Halo 5 GUardians will run on dedicated servers.

This means not only matchmaking but campaign and custom games will also run on dedicated servers.

Below is a screenshot submitted by HFFL reader, Clem, showing Josh’s reply.

imageThis means there will be no P to P connections. That’ll help greatly in reducing lag. Such lag has been detrimental to the success of the Halo Master Chief Collection.

So with this confirmation Halo 5 GUardians just keeps getting better and better.

  1. Halo: The Master Chief Collection does use dedicated servers and only falls back to peer-to-peer connection if the players cannot connect to the dedicated servers.

Which makes one wonder how the matchmaking was so broken…

    • Five different companies working not the title. Seems the only plausible way to explain it.
