According to a reply by Josh Holmes, inside studio head for Halo 5 Guardians, on NeoGaf, who goes by the name Salient One all aspects of Halo 5 GUardians will run on dedicated servers.
This means not only matchmaking but campaign and custom games will also run on dedicated servers.
Below is a screenshot submitted by HFFL reader, Clem, showing Josh’s reply.
This means there will be no P to P connections. That’ll help greatly in reducing lag. Such lag has been detrimental to the success of the Halo Master Chief Collection.
So with this confirmation Halo 5 GUardians just keeps getting better and better.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection does use dedicated servers and only falls back to peer-to-peer connection if the players cannot connect to the dedicated servers.
Which makes one wonder how the matchmaking was so broken…
Five different companies working not the title. Seems the only plausible way to explain it.
