BY GRIMBROTHER ONE
ISSUE 77

Greetings, story-seekers! Welcome back to another lovingly crafted edition of your favorite fiction feature. This week, we’ve got even more Hog Wild lore-lovin’ on tap, as well as a virtual sit-down with a new name in the Halo story stable, John Jackson Miller. Intrigued? Then by all means, read on, friends!FARAWAY FICTION

Over the past couple of issues, we’ve shed some light on a couple of exciting new story sources for Halo fans coming up later this year – Halo: Fractures, a new short-story anthology, and Halo: Tales from Slipspace, the aforementioned graphic novel collection. Both books include some particularly intriguing new names within the Halo writers realm, and over the next few months we thought it might be fun to get to know a few of them a bit better in order to whet community appetites. Keen-eyed Canon Fodder followers might likely have noticed why Mr. John Jackson Miller made a logical first choice to start off these familiarization exercises, as he’s written stories for both upcoming products. Using the power of the internet, I sat down with the tri-monickered man to get an idea about where he’s been, and what makes him excited about leaving his own mark on the Halo universe.

Teams across the studio are preparing for the upcoming Hog Wild REQ Drop, the Warzone Firefight release, and even goodness that lies beyond. The Halo Wars 2 team is anxiously gearing up for E3, where the game will indeed be playable. There’s also – well, I can’t talk about more just yet. To stay out of trouble, let’s get right into the Hog Wild REQ Drop.

HFFL: Goodness that lies beyond, huh? Let’s hope that means more free DLC!

After weeks of internal testing, feedback from the Team Arena Summer Preview playlist, and multiple rounds of feedback with Pro League teams, we’ve locked on final map layouts as well as map and game type combinations for Team Arena and the HCS Pro League. As of today, the Team Arena playlist will reflect the official HCS Pro League maps and game types.

The following game types will be played for the start of Pro League. As a note, extensive testing was done with the Assault game type, and at this time it has been determined that the game type could use some extra tuning before being integrated into Pro League play. The multiplayer team will continue working with Pro League teams on feedback and updates for future consideration. Continue reading

Community Update: A Whole New Level

The is a reblog from Halo Waypoint:

Welcome back, faithful readers. Today, we talk Infection, future content releases, Forge, HCS Pro League, and more. Let us begin.

Over the past week, we’ve been monitoring your feedback on Memories of Reach, keeping a close eye on data from Infection, matchmaking search preferences, and more. Teams across the studio are diligently gathering feedback on their respective updates, and preparing for ones that are yet to come, which we’ll talk just a bit about today. To start, we’ll talk about Forging ahead. Specifically, to Windows 10. Continue reading

Forging Ahead – The Forge Experience comes to Windows 10

This is a reblog from Halo Waypoint (with my commentary in blue):

Forging Ahead 1

From the very beginning, community creations have been central to the Halo experience. From stacking up grenades underneath an unsuspecting Warthog to multiplayer movie-making, the Halo sandbox has always been fertile soil for millions of moments and memories created for, and by, the fans.

In 2007, Halo 3 upped the ante with the introduction of a map editing tool called Forge, and quite literally changed the game forever, enabling a cascade of creativity, from new map and unique game type experiences to interactive art – all created by the community itself. Continue reading

Still down for the count…

Well, I had planned to have an article today on the Phaeton Helios. I got some work done on the graphics, but my back couldn’t take sitting that way for too long.

Pas you may have read yesterday, I hurt my back. Looks like I’m going to need another day. grrrr…

Hang with me folks, normal blogging to resume shortly.

New articles coming tomorrow!

I’d have had these up today, however, I sprained my back gardening…

Anyway, tomorrow, I plan to have an article on the Phaeton Helios, that was just released in the Momories of Reach update.

May also have something for Halo 5’s campaign. That one depends on how much better I feel tomorrow.
