Fan Made Ragnarok Diorama using Halo Mega Bloks

I came across a thread on a Halo Mega Bloks fan site that showed a Ragnaok diorama.

The following was made by “Scott ‘warmaster’ mckie“. From here, I’m going to let him use his own words as they were in the original thread.

Hi guys, i started this project for bloksfest2014. I never thought it would get to the size or quality that it turned out, its was massively liked at the show and won me first place in the diorama competition and won me a pelican set signed by mega themselves!

The build.
Time: 6 weeks
Weight: 45kg
Length: 5ft
Width: 2ft
Cost: around £100, £200+ inc figs.

So heres the start

Rag raw box

Rag raw foam

Rage fillover

I then added paint and details

Rag filled FINRag filled FIN2Rag section

HFFL: From here he doesn’t give any more text, so I’ll fill it in.Rag section2
Above a close-up of ChiefRag Pelican COMPA comparison of the diorama pelican scene with the actual scene from the in-game map.Rag ground close-up
Above shows the detailing of the ground very nicely.Rag warthog sceneA very cool scene of a warthog being hit and taking damage.Rag Mantis sceneSome added firing effects on the Mantis.

This is a nicely done diorama using realistic element with Mega Bloks as well. Being a diorama builder myself, though it’s been some time, I can certainly appreciate the work and detail that went into this project.

So what do you folks think of this? Did you like the diorama? Do you like the mix of realistic and Mega Bloks? Would you have preferred it to be all realistic or all Mega Bloks?

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been talking about E3. You’re excited, we’re excited, and we can finally say that E3 2014 is less than five days away. Some members of the team are already in Los Angeles, and the majority will be flying down over the next two days to prepare for the Xbox Media Briefing on Monday morning. We know you’re hyped about next week, so in this week’s Bulletin, we’ll be breaking down everything you need to know, and where you need to be next week. Let’s get into it!

Halo and ASTRO Gaming Announce New Partnership

HFFL: (as mentioned already here on the blog)

As you may have read earlier this morning, we announced a multi-year partnership with ASTRO Gaming! I can often be found wearing an ASTRO Gaming headset, and I’m wearing my ASTRO A38s as I type this. I often make my coworkers gape with awe at my ability to spin endlessly in my office chair without fear of becoming hopelessly tangled in wires. Halo and Astros go together like chocolate and peanut butter, so the fact that we’re partnering with them now to develop several new products: branded headsets, speaker tags, and more just feels… right.

halo-astro-announcement-ad64f67c6f474b648696003948847527

I’m incredibly excited to see the products, excitement, and new awesomeness that comes from our new partnership, and will absolutely share more at our earliest convenience.

Halo: Spartan Assault Free on Xbox One

HFFL: (as mentioned already here on the blog)

x1-spartan-assault-banner-dbc3c4a88a6e463885ac8c033db53eac

Starting today, Halo: Spartan Assault is available for free on Games with Gold for Xbox One! For the month of June, Xbox Live Gold members can get the epic top-down, twin-stick shooter at no cost. Go get it!

Screenshot Spotlight: King of the Hill

Last week, we turned the spotlight on the King of the Hill. Take a gander at the following black and white screenshots, and maybe even find inspiration to make your own.

6-5-14 Screenshot spotlight

HFFL: I have just one that I really like from this Spotlight. It’s the “welcome to the UNSC” by deluca34 screenshot.

For your chance at being in the next spotlight, take a screenshot that features a Ghost and then tag it with “Ghost” and “Halo Waypoint,” and maybe, just maybe, yours will be featured in the next Halo Bulletin!

HFFL: Hmm, will THIS be the week I actually take some screenshots and submit them for the Spotlight??? The Ghost is a good subject to do this for.

And with that, this week’s Bulletin comes to a close. We’ll see you in just a few days at E3
Until next week,
Bravo

HFFL: Hmm, not much NEW in the bulletin this week. Already had news of the Astro Gaming partnership and Spartan Assault being free for the One. Nothing really divulged for E3 other than times to tune in. And again, if you miss those, rest assured, I’ll be covering E3 Halo news extensively.

Very cool Ascetic Elite concept

The following art was created by @TDSpiral aka Garrett Post.

Ascetic Elite concept

One can really appreciate the link from this to the Arbiter’s armor.

Here’s his more finished version:

Ascetic Elite renderThis is really impressive. Given that the Arbiter in the Halo Escalation comic book series also wears a cape, this rendering captures the similarities between him and his lieutenants.

In case you haven’t seen him, here’s the Arbiter from that comic book series in his new armor. (Whether or not it’s just ceremonial is still up for debate, attempting to get an answer from 343)

Arbiter's new armor HFFL wmAnd of course here’s the Arbiter we all know well from the games:

arbiter halo 3

So there are definitely some similarities.

Great work Garrett! I’d love to see your design become part of the official canon for Halo. be that in the comic books or a game.

My NEW Pinterest Halo finds!

Every now and again, I scour Pinterest looking for Halo stuff I’ve not seen before. Below are a dozen illustrations I’ve repined on HFFLs Pinterest page. It’s a good mix of rough to finished artwork as well as various media used to create them. Not to mention, the subject matter covers a good range of things for Halo. Enjoy!

Okay, now where have THESE two Spartans been hiding out at? (Above)

Ah, Cortana. May she never be truly gone. I’m still bummed over what 343 did to/with her.

Halo and Astro Gaming announce new partnership.

Bravo posted this on Waypoint and tweeted about it.

BpTSTdKCIAAmvGl.jpg-large

Today we are announcing a new partnership with ASTRO Gaming! I had the pleasure of wearing nearly every iteration of ASTRO products since the very first Limited Edition A40 headset, so it is with great excitement, and with an ASTRO headset on my head, that I bring you this wonderful news. I know I speak for many when I say that I cannot imagine a better or more organic headset partner for our brand. I’m super pumped about the new products that are on the way, and I am quite glad that we’re finally taking our relationship to the next level. Read on for more details!

halo-astro-announcement-ad64f67c6f474b648696003948847527

Skullcandy, Inc. and its division ASTRO Gaming, creators of premium video gaming equipment, announced an exciting new multi-year partnership with Halo developer 343 Industries. As part of the agreement, Skullcandy and ASTRO Gaming will develop several new products including branded headsets, speaker tags and more in support of the latest releases within the Halo universe.

“Few game franchises have ever pushed the boundaries of our imagination quite like Halo. With its robust online multiplayer features, compelling storyline, incredibly detailed gameplay audio and inspiring musical score — Halo delivers at every level,” said Aron Drayer, VP of Marketing, ASTRO Gaming/Skullcandy Gaming.

Details relating to specific Halo headsets and accessories from ASTRO Gaming and Skullcandy will be announced at a later date.

HFFL: Man, now THIS is going to make me get some Astro Gaming gear!

I SO can’t wait for E3!

XBOX E3 scene

E3 is fast approaching. With rumors of either a Halo 2 Anniversary of a Master Chief collection, plus potentially something shown from Halo 5 Guardians, as well as either or both of the video productions, there is a LOT to be excited about, if you’re a Halo fan.

So what are you MOST excited to hear about from E3 this year?

Concept Art Director “Sparth” of 343 releases new concept art. Is it Halo related?

Sparth posted this on twitter today:

burnout theme

So it’s left to wonder, might this be Halo related? The ship looks vaguely similar in design to the ships seen on the cover of Primordium (see below):

Primordium

That doesn’t mean this is Forerunner. It might not even be Halo related at all. Imagine the possibilities if it were though? Who’s ship is that, where is it going? What is it’s purpose for going there? I’ve reached out to Sparth and asked if this is Halo related. No word yet from him.

Below is the link to his tweet of this.

https://twitter.com/nbsparth/status/473867106950197248

Even if it’s NOT Halo related, it’s still pretty damn cool.
