What are you thankful for?

Okay, now that Thanksgiving weekend is over and I’m back to normal (entertaining relatives all weekend long) blogging, I’d like to post what I’m thankful for. Not just Halo, but in general.

I’d also like to read what you’re thankful for too.

First and foremost, I’m thankful for my wife. She is very understanding of my fandom for Halo. As I’ve credited to her many times, she’s the one responsible for suggesting I start this blog in the first place. As well, she’s the one who buys nearly all of the Halo Mega Bloks sets that I review here on HFFL. So without here, there would be no HFFL. Continue reading →

The Spirit of Fire podcast episode 14: The Halo Master Chief Collection: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Spirit of Fire Podcast LOGO_R-sm

In this episode, we talk about all things regarding the Halo Master Chief Collection. The title says it all, the good, bad and ugly. Before you take a listen, I want to point out that I really don’t like having podcasts with a negative tone, this one however does have that tone to a degree that draw from my personal experience with the game as well as my co-host Martin. It also includes anecdotal info from fellow Halo gaming friends of mine and their experience with the game so far. Continue reading →

Two BIG Halo projects I’m working on…

I working on two projects for the blog. One deals with a map in Halo 2 Anniversary from the HMCC. It promises to tower above the rest… It will include video, screenshots, and of course text explanations. I’m about 50% of the way done with this. I hope to have it ready to post on Monday.

The other will be providing 400+ Halo images. I’m around 25% of the way done with that one and hope to have it ready to start on Monday or Tuesday. This project will be a 10-part series. I’ll release 2-parts a day once it’s ready to go.

Now as to what they specifically are….well, I can’t quite let the proverbial cat out of the bag just yet. For one,I don’t want anyone stealing my ideas.

Apologies if this seems like click-bait. I just wanted to let you all know about these two projects in case my posting on the blog is a little less than normal today and tomorrow.

I’ll be making a special appearance at Gamestop tonight…

If you’re going to the Southland Four Gamestop near Century III Mall south of Pittsburgh, I’ll be there with a table inside displaying some cool Halo stuff.

• Halo Mega Bloks sets
• Halo McFarlane vehicles and figures
• 3ft tall Halo 2 Master Chief

and more!

As well, I’ll be holding trivia questions with Halo Mega Bloks prizes.

Southland Four Gamestop address:
575 Clairton Blvd
Pittsburgh, PA 15236

It’s just around the corner from the Subway.

So if you’re local, come on out and see me there. I’d be happy to talk with yet more Halo Fans!

Special Halo 2 Themed HFFL Community Night tonight! 11/7/14

Tonight to usher in the Halo Master Chief Collection, HFFL will be holding a special Halo 2 themed Community Night. We’ll be playing on maps in halo 4 that have been dutifully made to look like Halo 2 maps.

I’ll have as close to Halo 2 settings as possible. While it won’t be the exact thing, it will be somewhat close. This is in part to get you prepared for the maps and again a way to honor the upcoming release of the HMCC!

Start time is 8 pm EST. I have this planned for 3 hours, however, if people want to continue on past that, I’m all for it!

I hope to see you there!!!

Master Chief Pumpkin cut-out…

If you’re into ‘last-minute mode’ and haven’t yet carved a pumpkin (or have thoughts towards next year), here’s a Master Chief design you can use on your pumpkins:

And…I likely have a torn rotator cuff.

So as reported earlier,I went to the doctor today for my arm. After checking my range of motion and associated pain, I was then sent to x-ray. The doctor believes it’s a rotator cuff injury. We’ll find out the results of the x-rays by tomorrow at latest. If there is a fracture, then it will be more than just physical therapy.

My arm is in a sling right now. Very hard to type with both hands. Lots of pain.

Anyway, again folks, I’ll keep blogging, it will just be a little light for a few days. Hopefully not more.

Thanks to those who sent well-wishes. It’s much appreciated.

Going to the hospital today…

As some of you have read, I’ve been suffering with pain in my right arm for two weeks now. It got worse yesterday when I fell on it from tripping over something on the floor in my home.

So I’m going to see my doctor today in hopes that they can both give me some meds for the pain and to check to see that I didn’t severely harm anything in my arm. Might need x-rays.

As much as I want to be posting on the blog, my shoulder has been hurting quite a lot. This really stinks for me as I want to post all the good news for the Halo Master Chief Collection. It’s hard to do that with one hand, though that is what I’m doing as of this moment. I’ve had to postpone articles I had intended to write and publish the last few days due to this pain. For that, I’m sorry if I’ve let you folks down.

Hopefully, I’ll be better tonight with pain meds. More so, I hope I won’t need anything more like surgery.

I felt I should let you folks know this so that you don’t think I’m shying away from the blog. Pain has a tendency to prioritize things in ways you don’t want them to be.

I’ll let you all know how I’m doing later tonight.
