SDCC: Halo Warzone map reveal – Raid on Apex 7

This is a reblog from Gamespot:

San Diego Comicon SDCC logo

Today on the first day of Comic-Con, just as Microsoft said it would, the company announced a new Warzone multiplayer map for Halo 5: Guardians. It’s called Raid on Apex 7, and it’s the biggest ever Warzone map revealed so far. That’s saying something, too, since the 12v12 Warzone itself is the largest mode in Halo multiplayer history; its maps are four times the size of anything seen in the franchise before. Let’s talk about exactly what that more entails, because there’s lots. We’re coming for you, Comic-Con, and we can’t wait for the doors to open.

Halo Bulletin Episode 19

So around 3:40 this gets ridiculous… Say bro, it’s not ‘hor-hey” is George. That’s how you pronounce Jorge-058’s name. Honestly, you can skip everything between 3:40 to 6:00. Well, unless you like goofiness.

Canon Fodder: Scarab Tactics

By GrimBrother One

ISSUE 31

Salutations, story supporters! It’s great to have you back for another universal update. In case you missed it, last week we dove a little deeper into the Warzone wild, and pulled the curtain back a bit on the Warzone Boss experience. If you want to know a bit more about the fictional setting for these deadly simulations, give it a read. This week we’ve got couple of cool new encyclopedic entries in the Universe section, and we hear from the community on what some of your favorite Spartan armors are. Mind the gap, and let’s make the jump!

MIND IF WE BUG YOU?

This week, you’ll notice that one of our new articles is a formidable foe, the Scarab. The deadly diggers are a Halo fan favorite – and for good reason! The Halo fiction is vast, but even the largest set pieces and smallest background details are often closely connected. For example, did you know that there were at least five Scarabs deployed by the Prophet of Regret during the Battle for New Mombasa? This is a detail from the Halo: Evolutions short story “Palace Hotel” (written by the evergreen Robt McLees) that even some of the most meticulous fans might miss. In case you’re wondering, the Scarab you see in Halo: Spartan Strike’s simulation just might be one of these rampaging machines that the Chief hadn’t gotten around to blowing up yet!

An Epic Return: The Music And Sound Of Halo 5

The following is a reblog from GameInformer:
by Wade Wojcik

The audio team at 343 Industries is putting an enormous amount of effort into the sound track of Halo 5: Guardians. They spent time recording the series’ iconic Gregorian monk chants in one of the best-known acoustic churches in Europe, and got shot at with real guns just to capture intense battle audio.

Audio director Sotaro Tojima and composer Kazuma Jinnouchi delve into the challenges of balancing the classic Bungie music with new material, and the many techniques that go into making the combat audio more immersive. Continue reading

3rd Annual HFFL LANstravaganza!

HFFL logo LANstravaganza

Mark your calendars folks, HFFL will be having it’s third annual LAN Party on August 15.

I’ll have more details as we get closer to the date.

What details I can give you right now are that it will be held at GameOn in the North Hills of Pittsburgh. This is where I had the first LAN. There will be a small admission charge. Not sure how much yet. Will post that as soon as I know.

The LAN will run for 8 hours minimum. Again hours of which to be determined.

We’ll have the usual HFFL FFA Tournament. Possibly a 4v4 is there are enough teams.

Stay tuned for more info soon! In the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to reply here or e-mail me at slashalofanforlife.com. If you’re coming by plane or long distance by car, I can get really good rates through one of my local buds/HFFL reader.

While the LAN itself will be on a Saturday, I have plans for Friday night and Sunday as well. So it’s not just a one-day thing. Though of course you are welcome to come to just the LAN if you wish.

Upcoming will be news about the 3rd annual HFFL LAN..
