HCS Pro League 2015 Summer Qualifier Preview

This is a reblog from Halo Waypoint:

California, here we come… Coming into this weekend, only two teams have locked up spots in the Halo Championship Series: Pro League Summer 2016 Season – Counter Logic Gaming claimed the first spot with their dominant win in the Halo World Championships this March, with their rivals Evil Geniuses sliding into the second spot by virtue of their outstanding win in the HCS Pro League Invitational at PAX East 2016 by ESL this April.

This brings us to the North American Summer Qualifier, which kicked off on the virtual battlefields this past weekend. Sixteen teams took to Xbox Live in the online round of the Summer Qualifier to narrow the field down to the top eight teams in the North American region. These eight teams are now on their way to Burbank, California to compete at the ESL studio on May 8. From there, they will battle it out in double elimination groups with the top four teams punching their tickets to the HCS Pro League for the Summer 2016 Season.

Let’s take a look at the eight teams heading to the west coast to capture Halo esports glory – and maybe even a nab a solid tan while they’re at it  Continue reading

Halo Toy Review: Mega Bloks NMPD Pelican Base (Part 1-Platform and Base)

This is part one of two for this review. In this part, I will take you through the contents of the set, the building of the base and platform. In part two, the Pelican itself comes together.

I’ve actually had this set since December 2015. Was missing a few parts, so waited to get those from Mega, then just forgot to post this review as I was busy with other things. Apologies there.

Canon Fodder: Journalistic Integrity

This is a reblog from HaloWaypoint:

canonfodder-4-29-16-17475b95325b4471b5fdc39ae7e12f71

Welcome back aboard the lore bus, Fodder folk. Last week, we hit on an eclectic menagerie of scattered story snippets, taking a detailed visual look at some Halo 5: Guardians armiger aesthetics, highlighting tabletop recaps, musing about Mega Bloks in motion, and more. This week however, we’re taking a bit more of a focused approach, and taking some time to remember. As many of you know, the Memories of Reach content release for Halo 5: Guardians is fast approaching, and with it, many memories of our own surrounding time spent on one of humanity’s most important 26th-century strongholds. Halo Community Update: Memories of Reach Preview

This is a reblog from HaloWaypoint:

BY B IS FOR BRAVO

Welcome to another weekly read, friends. As I sit at my typewriter (HFFL: Typewriter? Who even uses those things anymore? Keyboard yes, Typewriter? Okay, moving on…) and combine these eloquent words, each team at the studio is busy wrapping up their contributions to Memories of Reach. The release will include updates across the game, including the addition of a new game mode in the form of Infection (a bit more on that today), new controller options, UI updates (including post-game medals and more), new armor, skins, weapons, a new Arena battleground, matchmaking preference options, Forge updates, and much more, including some updates to REQ weapon balance, which we’ll also talk about in today’s blog. To correctly set expectations, Memories of Reach won’t be here just yet next week, but we’ll continue to keep you updated on specific timing as we get closer to release and all final work is completed, tested, and ready to go out the door.

To start, let’s talk a bit more about Infection!

Im looking for a few great Halo fans to help here at HFFL!

Want to be a part of a Halo Community? Want to help make it grow? HaloFanForLife.com could use your help.

I’m looking for:

  • Talented video editors (Youtube) to help make videos for HFFL. These would include gameplay, news, reviews, and more.
  • Are you a writer? I’m looking for at least two people to write articles for HFFL. Specifically, I need someone who is heavily in tune with Halo eSports. If selected, you would be responsible covering all of the Halo Championship series tournaments. This doesn’t mean you need to go to them. Rather, you would need to post up to date brackets, commentaries on pro gameplay and such. As well, if there are any major roster changes for the popular pro teams you would be expected to report on that. Again, this will require someone who knows the pro scene well, not just someone who is casually interested.
  • Forge specialist. This position will require a person with extensive knowledge of Halo’s Forge.
  • Web Design. Specifically, I’m looking for someone who can design a great Forum. As I don’t want to have to pay for another site, you will need to be versed in how to build Forums using some form of free forum service. Continue reading

Warzone Turbo is back! (Through May 4th)

Via a tweet from 343:

I’m already done with weapons commendations, so this won’t help there. However, it’s a good chance to get some vehicle commendations done. I just wish being boarded wasn’t so easy in Halo 5….that is beyond frustrating.

Still, looks like I’m going Phaeton and Mantis hunting!

HCS European Pro League Details Revealed

This is a reblog from Halo Waypoint:

Just a few short weeks ago, the top competitive Halo teams from around the world took the stage at the Halo World Championship in Hollywood, CA looking to call themselves the best Halo players on Earth. While the entire tournament was rife with unpredictable upsets and shocking comebacks, in the end there would be no doubt as Counter Logic Gaming saved perhaps their most dominant display for when the stakes were at their highest, dominating Allegiance in the finals to take the crown.
