Revealing the story of Halo 5 Guardians’ Campaign

Over the last fourteen years, countless stories have been told within the Halo universe. We’ve followed humanity’s struggle against the alien Covenant, the god-like Forerunners, and the parasitic Flood through the eyes of a wide roster of characters. Much of it has been told in a variety of media, but whenever there’s a new game it moves everything forward in a major way. Halo 5: Guardians promises to do just that.

Franchise development director Frank O’Connor and writer Brian Reed sat down with us and explained the inner struggles and backstories of our heroes and villains and the overall big picture of the upcoming chapter in the Halo saga.

The Reclamation Is At Hand

Nearly three years have passed since 343 Industries released Halo 4, its first game in the Halo series after taking over for original developer Bungie. It was quite a debut. Halo 4 garnered the biggest day-one launch sales of any Halo game to date with $220 million in total. Later, Microsoft confirmed it as the best-selling Microsoft Studios title of all time in the United States. Critical reception was positive, with a Metacritic score of 87 calculated from nearly 90 outlets. However, the multiplayer population dwindled quickly, with traditional fans lamenting class loadouts and Ordnance drops. Continue reading →

The Art of Halo 5: Guardians book delayed!

For those of you who have pre-ordered and haven’t yet seen, the Art of Halo 5 Guardians has been delayed to Oct 27 to coincide with the release of the game.

It’s likely that 343 didn’t want any of the ‘secrets’ of the game to come out before it was released, via this book.

For those who haven’t yet pre-ordered and are thinking about it, the book is available for pre-order from Amazon. If you do so now (as of this writing) you can save nearly $14 off the retail cost of the book, which runs at $45.

This particular issue doesn’t have any of our normal cadre of heroes. Instead the story is about a backwater planet after it’s been glassed. Dark Horse comics, Halo ships!

This was part of my coverage for New York Toy Fair. However, I held on to this as I was waiting on some official info from Dark Horse themselves for the product.

So here now are the ships that Dark Horse will be making available later this year and moving forward.

As you can see, the first three ships to be made are a UNSC Pelican, a Covenant CCS Cruiser and the UNSC Infinity.
