The Halo Bulletin 9-5-13

halobulletinheader_9-4-13The bulletin starts off with the road to the finals of the Halo 4 Global Championship. It’s a recap of the RTX, On-line, and Gamescom qualifiers.

Next up is of course the expected H4GC finals:

halogc_finalsBravo recounts the days leading up to and including the finals event. Interestingly enough, Ace, the eventual winner ALMOST didn’t even play in the PAX rounds. He barely made it in time to register and compete.

Matchmaking Playlist Update:
Surprisingly not much in this section this week. I suspect that is due to taking a small break after PAX/Halo4GC. Though Fri-Sun’s matchmaking daily challenges are listed:
Friday: 
Up Close and Personal: Earn 5 CQC Medals in a single match.

Raise the Flag: Win 5 matchmaking Capture the Flag matches.

This is a GREAT deal for those who don’t have the game yet. For those that do and have not bought any of the DLC, it’s a great deal as well. ALl the DLC and all but the FOTUS preorder armor. ON that note, I am happy that FOTUS is not parts of this offer. Everything else was free with pre-orders. The FOTUS could ONLY be had if you bought the limited edition Halo 4 XBOX. That truly was limited and exclusive.

LAN Event attendees, brush up on your Halo trivia!

I’ll be asking trivia questions throughout the LAN Event. If you get it right first, you’ll win a small prize. (Once you’ve won, please give someone else a chance to win.)

These small prizes will range from Halo Mega Bloks minifigures to McFarlane Halo Avatar figures, to a McFarlane Halo 4 Watcher action figure, or a McFarlane Halo 4 Crawler action figure.

HFFL has been promoting the LAN for a few weeks now. In that short time, I got 26 registrations. Not too bad considering the limited time.

During this time I also contacted several Halo licensees to see if they’d donate prizes. Door prizes and prizes for the Free-For-All tournament that is part of the LAN.

MEGA Brands, makers of Halo MEGA Bloks answered the call!!

Everyone coming to the LAN with paid admission will receive the Halo minifigure exclusive. So far it’s only been given out at San Diego Comicon, with expectations of it likely being given away at New York Comicon as well.

In addition to that, the top three finishers in the FFA tourney will receive prizes.
These are:
1st place: one each of the Halo Mega Bloks Night Ops Gauss Hog and Anti Armor Cobra (total value approx $83 before tax)
2nd place: Mega Bloks Anti Armor Cobra (approx value $50)
3rd place: Mega Bloks Night Ops Gauss Hog (approx value $33)

I’m already a huge fan of Sparth’s. I love concept art in general and his is among the best I’ve ever seen.

So the next Halo game is titled Halo 5 afterall???

While the original video was pulled form Vimeo, ForgeWorldMaps grabbed the important part that shows at the end, the title of the next Halo game being Halo 5. Take a look:

So, we have to wonder, why would 343 stay quiet on this? Is it really that big of a deal that they can’t confirm or deny outright that the title is Halo 5? It only makes sense to call it that.

Halo Mega Bloks GREEN Spade custom

MEGA has now come out with it’s second version of the Spade from Halo Reach. The original was done in the dark orange in-game color. The new version is done in a curiously no-in-game red color (which I do not yet have). I’ve been asking MEGA for sometime to make this in both the green and/or blue in-game colors.

Since I have 3 of this set, I decided to take matters into my own hands and make a green custom. The build is of course the same. The only thing I did was to paint the orange parts green.

I very happy with the outcome when compared to the in-game version. The color is very close. Additionally, this color scheme is reminiscent of the Halo Reach Marine battle uniform!

What do you think? Do you like the green version? For those of you who collect Halo MEGA Bloks, would you like to see them make the green and blue in-game versions? Make your opinion known, they may just be reading…

Are “casuals” ruining Halo? LOL Hardly, please read this…

So while checking my analytics today, I noticed that I was getting a spike in hits coming from Beyond Entertainment’s forums. I decided to see what all the hub-bub was about.

Here I come to find out, it was someone bashing me, calling me a troll, and more.

Now, before I get into this any further, let me say I have NO beef with Beyond Entertainment. In fact they locked the following thread before I even read it for the first time.
