$1 Million Halo World Championship!
Yep, 343/Microsoft is putting on a whopper of a Halo tournament. The total prize pool will be $1 million dollars. Watch the vid below, then some comments form me.
Okay, it’s cool and all that MS is really backing Halo. However, I have strong reservations that at high stakes tournament is going to bring Halo back to the forefront of eSports. Yes, in the temporary, it will. Might get some of the former pro Halo players to come back to Halo or at least split their time between it and COD. But it will really have to prove itself with the whole of the community when the game releases in October, if it’s to have any eSports longevity. Continue reading

Welcome back, folks! Last week we dove fleet first into the brand new Halo tabletop game from our partners at Spartan Games. For fans of the stellar ship experience, Halo: Fleet Battles will be making an appearance this weekend at GenCon in Indianapolis. If you’re in the neighborhood, more info can be found here. Meanwhile around these parts, the Seattle skies and Lake Washington waters will be filled with a different fleeting demonstration, as Seafair brings its annual abundance of high-speed hydro racing and epic aerobatic action to a myriad of excited and awaiting eyes and ears. At 343 Industries specifically, we’re all heads down on a variety of different ways we hope to bring the eyes and ears of Halo fans just as much excitement and joy, whether it’s pouring into the production and polish of Halo 5: Guardians, or getting ready to share more news at next week’s Gamescom conference in Germany. Needless to say, we hope you enjoy what we have in store on all fronts. In this week’s issue of Canon Fodder, we’ve got a smattering of topics to touch on, starting off with a few of your very own burning questions from the Halo Waypoint Universe forum.

Incoming Halo Mega Bloks toy reviews!
My wife surprised me with a nice bit of Halo Mega Bloks on Friday. At first it was the new Ghost and Gungoose set. But then, she further surprised me with the Phaeton and…. the UNSC Vulture!!!
I spent the whole weekend building. This explains some of why I haven’t posted join the blog for a little bit.
Unfortunately, the Vulture set had a few missing pieces and two malformed pieces rather critical to the build. I’ve already called Mega for replacement parts.
In the meantime, I’ll be editing the photos I took of the first three and will be posting those reviews within a day or two.
I’ll have the Vulture’s review up once I get the replacement parts in form Mega. Though, I’ll give you a tease of it, in the Phaeton review, just so you know I do indeed have the set…

Playlist Update
Over the past few weeks, the playlist team has been reviewing playlist feedback, adjusting experiences, and building new playlists for your enjoyment. Team Action Sack is the newest of these playlists, and it’s available in matchmaking now. But we’ll get to that in a moment. First, what happens to Team Snipers?
A few weeks ago, we let you know that with the introduction of Team Snipers, we were putting rotational playlists on hold while we continued not only build new playlists, but also evaluate the current lineup and review player data to determine what was next for matchmaking playlists. Over the past few weeks, Team Snipers has unsurprisingly performed quite well. You like it, and we do too.
