2nd Annual HFFL LANstravaganza Schedule of events

HFFL 2014 LAN logo

Okay folks, were two weeks out from the LAN. So I figured this would be a good time to post what the schedule of will be. Before I start that, let me state a few things. Photos will be taken throughout. By coming to the LAN, you consent to have your photo taken without reimbursement in any form. Photos will be used for Blog purposes, such as the LAN recap and possibly as part of background images for the Blog’s home page.

Alcohol is bring your own. You MUST be 21 with a valid license to bring and drink on the premises. NO exceptions. If I feel you are unfit to drive, you are NOT to drive. Rather you will be instructed to call someone to get you, be that friend, family or taxi. (Cost to yourself, not HFFL). This is a family type gathering, so please behave as such. Remember, I have to continue to live here after everyone else leaves. Bad behavior will not be tolerated. Be forewarned that we have police as neighbors. Again, act respectfully. Okay, on with the schedule:

Smoking is not permitted on the property. There will be a receptacle just outside of the property fence for you to smoke by and dispose of your cigarette butts. (I have breathing problems, so please be mindful and respectful of that, thanks.)

No one is permitted to come to the LAN without paying full admission. This is due to the need to cover the equipment and food/beverages cost, as well as the cost for some of the prizes. Continue reading

HFFL Reader Toy Review: Mega Bloks Flood Invasion By J. Chad Day

Blog subscriber J. Chad Day sent me an e-mail saying he had photos and a written review for the new Flood Invasion set. He wanted to know if I’d like to show his review on HFFL. I’m happy to do so. When I get this set, I’ll do my own review as well. In the meantime, enjoy Chad’s review. BTW, Chad gave me permission to retouch his photos as well as add the HFFL watermark to them. As always, my commentary will be included in BLUE.

The Halo Bulletin 7-30-14

halobulletinheader_7-30_800-0569e3c2b01443718a464efd1fdd947d

We braved crowds of hundreds of thousands. We accidentally waited in lines for 30 minutes while trying to exit the convention center. We were whacked in the head by a few too many poster tubes. We survived another San Diego Comic-Con and are here to tell the tale. More importantly, we gave you a first look at Halo: Nightfall and more details on Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Halo 2: Anniversary. Most importantly, however, may be the fact that we got to meet so many passionate Halo fans in San Diego this past weekend. Whether it was a mother and father who waited in a 2-hour line to get their son or daughter a signed poster, or a group of friends who can’t wait for November 11, it was truly a treat to talk about Halo with everyone in attendance. Whether you attended our panels, came to hang out at the Xbox Lounge, stopped us on the floor and just said “hello,” or have been following the news from home, we’d like to say thank you. We’re excited about what’s ahead, and we hope you are too. In this week’s issue, we’ve got a Comic-Con recap, the world premiere of our Halo: The Master Chief Collection developer panel, and more. Let’s dig in! Continue reading

Dark Horse Deluxe to make Halo replicas ships/vehicles.

DarkHorseComicsLogo

This is a repost from Darkhorse’s site. (My commentary as usual will be in BLUE.)

It was announced during Dark Horse’s “The Art of Video Games” panel at this year’s (2014) Comic Con International that Dark Horse would develop and manufacture a line of replicas based on the ships and vehicles which have appeared in the multi-million selling video game franchise, “Halo®!”

HFFL: YES! I wonder what scale, which ships and vehicles, what era(s)? Continue reading

The last few days…

First, apologies to you folks that I haven’t posted much in a couple of days. I’ve been going through a rough patch. Seeing that the fundraising effort fell flat, put me in a depressed mood. To further that, the money I have saved for 5 months for an XBOX One will be gone to cover the expense of the LAN. This has caused me to be further depressed.

Beyond that, I got some news yesterday that was both disappointing and disconcerting. Continue reading

2nd Anniversary HFFL LANstravaganza update.

HFFL 2014 LAN logo

Okay folks, I need for those of you who are coming to the LAN to please e-mail me with your confirmation of such. If you have anyone else you will be bringing (and that is SOLID for attending, not just possible), please include that in your e-mail as well. If you have more that will attend with you after you send the e-mail, please send me an update by e-mail so that I may include them into the number of attendees. Continue reading

Top Ten Halsey lines!

The following was made by my friend, MixMaker117. After you watch the vid below, check out the others on his YouTube channel. He does GREAT work!

Hm, I thought the revenge line would be number one. However, I can agree with Mix’s top choice.
