And on with the pics! (Click pics to make BIGGER)

MB Metallic ODST Pod GREEN Package
The packaging is the drop pod itself, which is a two-part mold. There is a thin sheath of clear plastic that surrounds the pod to keep it intact while hanging on pegs, while waiting to be bought. I just like how they look like hand grenades!  The metallic green paint looks great. It makes me think of this ODST as a cross over from being a marine to an ODST.

MB Metallic ODST Pod GREEN Contents
This pic shows the contents of the pod, as well as the pod separated into it’s respective two pieces. The minifigure does not come assemebled. It takes no time at all to put it together though. Same as the others, with the exception of a Magnum for the mini figure.

The insert sheet shows all four of the sets.

Finally here is the minifig close-up.
MB Metallic ODST Pod GREEN Minifig

It has a great metallic sheen to it. I really like the teeth markings above and below the visor. The blok the fig stands on comes with it and is imprinted with the word “Halo” on it, in Metallic green ink to match the mini fig’s detail color. The green ink is a nice medium toned green. Not too light nor dark. These ODST drop pod figs are really well done.

Here’s the video review:

Summary: No time needed to build this as it’s just the figure, weapon and its’ stand.

Overall Rating: I give this set 10 out for 10 medals.

For the money, this is a good deal. Consider that the single blind pack minifigs are $3-4, for the same or maybe a dollar more, you get the two-part drop pod. If you’re a fan of ODSTs then these are the sets for you!

You can see this set and more at Mega Bloks Halo product page HERE.

Thanks for reading and let me know what you think of the review. If you have this set yourself, please give me your thoughts on it too!

New York Toy Fair 2014 Halo toy news: Mega Bloks ODST Wombat

MB grey logoA very cool new little entry into the Halo line is this Wombat. It’s also called an Osprey and more technically the F-99 Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle.

ODST Wombat box
It’s a small set with an ODST and the drone itself. Depending on cost, this could be an army building set. I expect it to cost about $10-12.

ODST Wombat box 2
Here’s another shot from a higher up angle. If you squint you can barely make out the name of the set being “ODST Wombat”.

ODST Wombat displayedHere it is display with the ODST figure underneath it.

This is a neat entry into the line as I said at the beginning. It’s a rather obscure little vehicle, but pretty cool nonetheless. Pics are from Figures.com. I cropped and color corrected them for clarity.

So will you get this set? For sure I want it. Now if I could just get more of the ODSTs themselves…

You can read up more on this vehicle HERE.

Series 10 blind pack figs
With exception to the Grunt, Jackal and A/C Trans Brute, the rest all look to have the new articulation.

I’m really stoked for Palmer, Arctic Camo Gungnir and the translucent figs. I’m not at all disappointed in the rest though. Great army builders all!

New York Toy Fair 2014 Halo toy news: Mega Bloks Halo 4 Marine Weapons pack, Elite & ODST Drop Pods

MB grey logoThis Halo 4 Marine weapons pack is different than the one release just a short time ago. The biggest difference is that it has the new articulated mini fig.
Halo 4 Marine weapons pack
This is a GREAT set for several reasons.
• Army building Halo 4 style Marines
• Stocking up on mini-fig weapons
• Sandbags. YES, SANDBAGS!

Man, if I can afford it, I’d love to have 10 of this set!!
Pic from figures.com. Cropped and Color Corrected for Clarity.

Here are two new pods coming. You saw the copper ODST pod yesterday. Here’s a better shot of it:
ODST copper drop pod
You can see it too has the new articulation for the mini fig.

Here is a new Elite pod:
Purple Elite Drop pod
Is that Metallic Purple paint? Why YES it is!

What I really like about these pods is that they are MUCH less in price than the originals. I’m happy that Mega saw that many collectors didn’t really need to have the blok built pods. This allows Mega to crank out more pods and be less expensive, giving us more figures to collect. THANKS Mega!

New York Toy Fair 2014 Halo toy news: Mega Bloks Spartan Assault 4-pack and Sniper Crawler set

MB grey logoWe’re getting a 4-pack from Spartan Assault. However, given the character selection in this set, it really could be from anywhere. That isn’t a detractor, just a statement.

Spartan Assault 4-packFrom right to left we have: Spartan Pilot, Brute Captain (awesome!) Gold Storm Elite, and an Active Camo Brute Captain with A/C Bruteshot (shown upside down in the pic, LOL). It’s a nice selection, though I would have loved to have that Brute Captain (painted) to be in one of the blind pack series as I’d like to have 3-4 of it. This set should retail for around $12-14. Pic from ToyArk.com

Next we have the final Crawler needed to be made, the Sniper Crawler.
Crawler Snip set
In this pic from ToyArk, we see that the set includes a Sniper Crawler, Binary Rifle, Light Rifle, 2 Pulse Grenades (never been made before!), a clear blue baseplate, and what I’m assuming is a Forerunner turret. At first I thought is was a Sentinel, but clearly by the design it’s not. I expect this set to retail for $7-8.

I definitely want 2-3 of those crawlers sniper sets! Now with the regular and Alpha crawlers also being done with Blue highlights, I think it’s only a matter of time before we see this one as well with the blue highlight treatment.

New York Toy Fair 2014 Halo toy news: Mega Bloks Fireteams Crimson and Venom

MB grey logoHere are two very cool multi-packs coming soon. These both have the new style articulation.

Up first, Fireteam Crimson:

New is Fireteam Venom (a NEWLY named Fireteam!):

Additionally, there is a fifth Spartan in this not shown in the pic above. This pic from Figures.com shows the figures rearranged. Then additional one (Bottom middle), looks to be a Spartan Warrior. I’ll try and get clarification on that.
Fireteam Venom fig-com

I’m VERY happy that we’re getting Fireteams. Now if only we could get Fireteam Majestic… Yes, we’ve been slowly getting them in sets, but they are of the older articulation. If I’m going to get these Fireteam sets, I want Majestic and in the new articulation.

Microsoft is considering lower prices for digital Xbox One games

Not Halo, but it may have an impact later on future Halo games.

This is a repost of an article on Yahoo:

The Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 are on a relatively level playing field as the new generation revs up, but Microsoft and Sony will find ways to help consumers differentiate between the two in the coming months and years. Sony has already played its trump card by offering free games through PlayStation Plus, but Microsoft might be closing in on its own digital initiative to give Xbox One owners better deals.

Mike Ybarra, studio manager at Xbox, tweeted on Monday that Xbox owners have been asking for better deals on the Xbox digital marketplace, so his team is going to begin testing a few options. Starting tomorrow and running until the 24th, Ryse: Son of Rome, a launch game for the Xbox One, will be discounted 33% to $39.99 on Xbox Live.

Console owners have been demanding competitive digital download prices for years, but other than occasional discounts and holiday events, more often than not a used copy of a game costs significantly less than its digital counterpart, even months or years after release. As for Ryse, preowned copies at GameStop are still listed at $54.99, $15 over the promotional price being offered on Xbox Live this week.

We don’t know what this means for the future of Xbox One digital pricing, but if the response is positive, expect more promotions like this in the future.
